The Write Space ‘Della Galton’ Short Story Competition invites writers to submit a story of any genre up to 1500 words based on the theme:

Rules

  1. The closing date is 30th June 2010.
  2. Entries must not exceed 1500 words and must be on the theme of “The Lie”.
  3. Entries must be typed and double spaced. The title of the story must be on each page of the story. All pages must be numbered.
  4. Entrants name and address must only be on the entry form, not the story. Any stories marked with names and / or addresses will be disqualified.
  5. Only postal entries will be accepted. Entries to arrive at Rivendell, St. Clether, Launceston, Cornwall PL15 8QH by 30th June 2010 accompanied by entry form (1 per story) and appropriate fee.
  6. Entries will only be returned if accompanied by an s.a.e.
  7. Critiques will be returned via e-mail unless s.a.e. sent with entry.
  8. The judges’ decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  9. Winners will be notified by mid August 2010.
  10. Entries must be original work and previously unpublished.
  11. Vanda Inman's Write Space reserves the right to publish all winning stories on the Write Space website

    Vanda Inman

    Vanda Inman is published in the women's magazine market and runs a variety of creative writing courses covering the basics to more experimental writing. She writes the Quick Fix column in Writers' Forum.

     

    Della Galton

    Della Galton has been selling short stories for twenty years. She sells between 90 and 100 short stories a year to markets in the UK and abroad.

    She also teaches creative writing and is a popular speaker at writers’ conferences across the UK. Dozens of her students have achieved success in the very competitive field of magazine fiction.
